Dorothy Nakanwagi
Dorothy Nakanwagi is a Senior Pharmacy Technician at the Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) in Kampala. She holds a Higher Diploma in Pharmacy from the Uganda Institute of Allied Health and Management Sciences. With eighteen years of experience in pharmacy practice, Dorothy has worked in various areas, including supply chain management, pharmacovigilance, and direct patient care
Dorothy is deeply passionate about patient safety and pharmacovigilance. In her current role, she serves as the focal person for pharmacovigilance, where she is responsible for sending adverse drug reaction (ADR) reports to the National Drug Authority (NDA), ensuring the facility is adequately stocked with ADR reporting tools, and leading pharmacovigilance capacity-building initiatives. Additionally, she heads the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) for the pharmacy section at the MJAP Mulago Immune Suppression Syndrome (ISS) Clinic, which is the largest single HIV clinic in Uganda and serves overĀ 17,000 persons living with HIV.
