Kampadilemba Ouoba

Lecturer and Researcher, Joseph Ki-Zerbo University, Director of Pharmacovigilance, Pharmaceutical Authority, Burkina Faso

Kampadilemba Ouoba, PharmD, PhD in Health Law and Economics (University of Strasbourg, France), is a Lecturer and Researcher in Pharmaceutical Law, Regulation and Ethics at Joseph Ki-Zerbo University, Burkina Faso. He is also a part-time Lecturer in Pharmacovigilance at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Strasbourg, France. As a member of the ‘Pharmaceutical Practices’ research team at the Drug Development Laboratory, Joseph Ki-Zerbo University, his main areas of research focus on Law and policies on access to medicines; pharmacovigilance and drug safety; traditional and complementary medicine.

He is currently Director of pharmacovigilance at the National Drug Regulatory Authority (NRA) of Burkina Faso and a member of the Vigilance Technical Committee of the AUDA NEPAD / AMA. He is an active member of many international learned societies and scientific groups – member of the leadership team of the Pharmaceutical Policies in Health Systems (PharmPol) Technical Working Group of Health Systems Global (HSG); member of the Herbal and Traditional Medicines Special Interest Group of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP); member of the African Network of Natural Therapeutics Scientists; member of the French Society for the History of Pharmacy; and many others.

In 2022, he was the winner of the ‘Scopus Indexed Articles’ Award from the African Centre of Excellence for Training, Research and Expertise in Medicines Sciences (CEA-CFOREM) at Joseph Ki-Zerbo University. In 2023, he was twice awarded the International Prize for the Proper Use of Medicines, awarded by the French National Academy of Pharmacy and Les entreprises du médicament / Pharmaceutical Companies (Leem), and the CEA-CFOREM Prize for Excellence in Research. All of these awards recognized his research work on safety monitoring of traditional medicines and natural health products.
