Dr. Alemayehu L. Duga is a pharmacist and global health expert with over 15 years of experience specializing in pharmacovigilance, pharmacoepidemiology, and strengthening public health systems across Africa. He has led impactful initiatives through programs such as the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) and USAID-funded projects, including Pharmacovigilance Africa (PAVIA), SIAPS, and MTaPS (Management Sciences for Health).

Currently, as the Senior Technical Officer for Pharmacovigilance at the Africa CDC, Dr. Duga provides leadership to African Union Member States in building resilient systems for medicine and vaccine safety surveillance. He advances regulatory science and promotes harmonized approaches to pharmacovigilance. Dr. Duga has been instrumental in establishing national pharmacovigilance centers in various countries, developing policies, guidelines, tools, and training programs to strengthen health systems and protect populations.

He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on medicine and vaccine safety, regulatory enhancement, and public health interventions. Dr. Duga holds a PhD in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology from the University of Bordeaux, France, as well as a Master of Science in Clinical Research and a Bachelor of Pharmacy.
