Carlos Kilowe is the Regional Lead for Pharmacovigilance at the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), advancing the Africa Health Security and Sovereignty (AHSS) agenda by building resilient and integrated pharmacovigilance systems across the continent. He leads multi-country initiatives to strengthen vaccine and medical countermeasure safety surveillance, with a strong focus on Pandemic preparedness and response during public health emergencies. His work has been instrumental in developing harmonized, data-driven systems that enable timely detection, assessment, and response to safety signals—positioning patient safety at the core of Africa’s health security architecture.
